We have a JD 750 and a Woods rear plow. I was planning on using it for plowing the drive this winter. Everyone in the church (they have owned it for years) says it cannot be done, that the tractor is too light and too small to handle the load.It currently has lawn tires on it. If I were to put chains on the tires do you think it could get the job done?

bob- don't how big a 750 is nor if it has 4wd but , yep, it'll plow snow with chains. Might have to jerk around a bit cause it won't be as convienient as a front mounted plow, but it will move snow. bo ....

I have a Kubota B1700, which is I think smaller than your Deere (17 horsepower, about 1400 pounds). I use a 5 foot Woods rear blade, and it will move snow which is higher than the blade is tall if need be. I have ag tires, and of course 4 wheel drive is a must, but I would bet your Deere with chains would do as well or better. I have 40 feet of really heavy towing chain (purchased at my local Deere dealer by the way) which I wrap around the frame of the blade to add weight - this seems to help stop the rear end from sliding around.

BOB- 2 things you need 2 make it work.
leave on the turfs & put on a good pair of cross chains. 2- make sure the rear tires are loader for weight. Your 750 will push well as long as the blade is not too wide for tractor. We use a lot of 2wd's up here in Northern Vermont we've seen snow a few times. Jim ....
